Photo Gallery: Apple Valley Girls Basketball Downs Rosemount 68-58

The Eagles got 22 points from Jordan Sammons and 19 from Jaryn Pipkins in the win.

The Apple Valley girls basketball team took a 10-point first half lead and held on Wednesday, defeating Rosemount 68-58 at Eastview in the Section 3AAAA quarterfinal.

The win puts the Eagles in Saturday’s section semifinal against cross-town rival Eastview. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

On Wednesday, the Eagles (12-15) were led by Jordan Sammons’ 22 points. Jaryn Pipkins scored 19 points and Sidney Schalk chipped in 11 for Apple Valley, which has won four of its past five games.

Rosemount (9-18) was led by Elaine Warner’s 20 points and Lindy Parker’s 11 points. 

The Eagles are 0-2 against Eastview this year, losing 65-38 on Jan. 14 and 59-58 on Feb. 15.
