Talented Rosemount kids hula-hooped their way to prizes in the contest's first year
Approximately 50 talented kids hooped up tons of Leprechaun
Days fun Wednesday afternoon at the inaugural Kids’ Hula Hoop contest, sponsored by Rosemount Eye Clinic and Scott Chiropractic Clinic. To the delight of an impressed crowd gathered at the eye clinic’s parking lot, the young hula hoopers demonstrated their know-how of the popular fad from the 1950s.
With the colorful round toys masterfully twirling everywhere, hula hoop contests were held by age groups – 4 and under, 5-8 and 9-12. Prizes were given to winners among the finalists.
The hooping contest replaces the coloring contest formerly held during Leprechaun Days, according to Dr. Denise Kniefel, optometrist at Rosemount Eye Clinic.

“It’s our first year doing this, and we hope to make it bigger and better next year,” she said. “We would like to really grow the Hula Hoop contest more, going forward.”
Scott Chiropractic Clinic also provided free chair massages for adults during the event.
