Rosemount Blanked in Moose Country Challenge
Rosemount lost a trio of tough games Friday and Saturday in the all wood bat American Legion tournament in Mendota Heights; will play in Sunday's consolation bracket
It's been a tough weekend so far for Rosemount's American Legion baseball team.
Rosemount Post 65 went 0-3 in the Moose Country Challenge American Legion Baseball Tournament Saturday, losing two-one run games and another three-run decision. Rosemount fell 2-1 to Stillwater, 6-3 to Rosetown and 1-0 to St. Paul Park.
Rosemount will play Chester Bird (Benilde St. Margaret's) Sunday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Academy in the consolation bracket.

In the championship bracket, West St. Paul will meet Rosetown in the 10 a.m. game, followed by Stillwater vs. South St. Paul, both games at Henry Sibley High School. The winner of those two games will meet for the eight-team tournament championship at Henry Sibley at about 2:30 p.m.
In Friday pool games, Chester Bird defeated South St. Paul 1-0, West St. Paul dropped Hamline Purple 3-1, Rosetown topped St. Paul Park 3-1 and Stillwater edged Rosemount 2-1.

In Saturday's American Pool games at Henry Sibley High School, Rosetown beat Rosemount 6-3, St. Paul Park edged Rosemount 1-0, Stillwater blasted St. Paul Park 12-3 and Stillwater edged Rosetown 2-1 in 10 innings.
In the National Pool games Saturday at St. Thomas Academy, Hamline Purple edged Chester Bird 8-7, West St. Paul tipped Chester Bird 3-2, South St. Paul topped Hamline Purple 5-4 and West St. Paul bombed South St. Paul 11-2.
In the first game Saturday morning, Rosetown (Roseville) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four innings then held off Rosemount for the win. Rosemount closed with three runs in the fifth inning, but couldn't manage to close the gap further.
Chris Dishop went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Rosetown, while Austin Colvard was 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Ryan Minder earned the win for Rosetown, pitching 4 1/3 innings. He gave up five hits, three earned runs, walked four and struck out one.
