Rosemount Individuals Compete At State Track Meet
The girls 4x400 meter relay took second overall, while the boys 4x800 meter relay took third at the Class AA meet in St. Paul
The Rosemount boys and girls track and field teams competed Friday and Saturday at the Class AA state meet at Hamline University in St. Paul.
The Irish boys team finished 13th in the standings with 25 points, and the girls took 22nd overall with 16 points. Stillwater Area won the boys championship with 47 points, and Hopkins won the girls state title with 84 points.
Individually for the boys, the 4x800 meter relay team comprised of John Evenocheck, Sam Temple, Christopher Mergens and Chandler Dye took third with a 7:50.99 finish—17 seconds faster than their seeding time.

The 4x400 meter relay, made up of Temple, Hausmann, Phillips and Goaner Deng, took fourth at 3:21.75. Senior Joe Bjorklund took seventh in the boys shot put at 53 feet, 10.25 inches. His teammate, Brandt Berghuis, finished eighth in the shot put at 53 feet, 4 inches.
Senior Myles Phillips took ninth in the 200 meter dash at 23.13 seconds.

Dye and Mergens finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 800 meter run. They finished in 2:01.10 and 2:01.38.
Senior Andrew Hausmann finished eighth in the 400 meter run at 50.00 seconds. Senior Shane McCallum took 10th in the 1600 meter run at 4:27.43.
On the girls side, the 4x400 meter relay team finished second overall. Thana Hussein, Rachel Schow, Hannah Grim and Shade Pratt finished the event in 3:52.34. Pratt also took fourth in the 400 meter dash with a 56.43 time.
