Rosemount Wrestlers Fail to Move Past First Round
The Rosemount wrestling team took Eagan down to the wire, but in losing the final matchup, were ousted from the Section 3AAA wrestling tournament.
Rosemount's high school wrestling team headed into the Section 3AAA wrestling tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 19-5 record. The Irish quickly found themselves fighting just to make it past the first round against the No. 5 seed Eagan.
The two teams went back and forth, emotions rose, and everything came down to the final heavyweight matchup. Mitch Johnson of Eagan edged out John Bishop to send Eagan's fans up out of their seats, and Rosemount's fans home in disappointment. Johnson's win ousted the Irish out of the tournament.
Yet it may have been all for naught, as the winner of the matchup faced the No. 1 ranked and dominant Apple Valley team. Apple Valley took care of business and quickly ousted Eagan from the tournament.
