Woman Gets DWI On Valentine's Day: Apple Valley Police

A dispute at a bank ended with a woman being arrested for DWI on Valentine's Day, Apple Valley police said.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — A dispute at a bank ended with a woman being arrested for DWI on Valentine's Day in Apple Valley. Officers were sent to a local bank just before 1:50 p.m. on Valentine’s Day on a report of a disruptive customer inside the business.

A woman was upset because she lost her safe deposit box key and she had to wait several days before a locksmith could open it, police said.

While speaking with officers, the woman began raising her voice and saying it was ridiculous it she has to wait, according to police. She eventually agreed to leave and come back when the locksmith could open the safe.

Officers walked with the woman out to her vehicle and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her. The woman admitted driving to the bank but said she didn't drink alcohol, according to investigators.

A field tested showed she was impaired by alcohol, police said. She refused to give a breath sample at the scene and was arrested.

The woman also refused to take a breath test at the station, according to authorities. She was charged with DWI, police said.
