1. Fifth Street NW trail project approved by the Bemidji City Council (bemidjipioneer.com) — Bemidji residents can expect construction of a new 8-foot-wide paved trail along Fifth Street NW between Irvine Avenue and the Jefferson Avenue roundabout to start after the July 4 weekend and wrap up by September, weather permitting. Fully funded through federal, state, and city dollars, the project includes a BNSF Railway crossing and has been in planning for more than five years.

2. 'The Sunshine Boys' Open Friday at Bemidji Community Theater (kb101fm.com) — Bemidji Community Theater is opening Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys” this Friday, with shows running through this weekend and again June 12–14. Local actors Paul Conklin and Cole Flaat star in the comedy, and the recently renovated theater offers upgraded seating, affordable ticket prices, and plenty of opportunities for residents to get involved onstage or behind the scenes.

3. ‘I had nobody': Minnesota teen's tearful graduation video goes viral (bringmethenews.com) — A Bemidji teenager’s emotional TikTok about graduating high school without family support has gone viral worldwide, prompting thousands of people to donate and send encouragement. The outpouring is helping him move from couch-hopping toward stable housing, college, and a brighter future, and he’s inviting anyone interested to his June 20 graduation party in Blackduck.

Tuesday's local scoreboard for June 2 (grandforksherald.com) — High school golfers and ballplayers competed Tuesday in and around Bemidji, with a local scoreboard highlighting team totals and standout individual performances. The roundup also tracks tournament action in Crookston, North Mankato, Bismarck, Carrington and Oxbow, giving fans a detailed look at how area teams and athletes fared.

5. Harold L. "Roy" Nord (thecampbellsportnews.com) — Bemidji native Harold L. “Roy” Nord, born here in 1935 and a 1954 Bemidji High School graduate, has passed away at age 90 in Wisconsin. Remembered for his award-winning Otis Elevator career and many talents, he leaves behind his wife Patricia, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; a Celebration of Life will be held later.
