📰 News we're reading

1. Students Explore Hmong Culture Through Gardening Program (minnesotaagconnection.com) — Students at Prairie Seeds Academy in Brooklyn Park spent six weeks learning about Hmong culture, gardening, and healthy eating through the University of Minnesota Extension’s Noj Qab Nyob Zoo program. The project created a permanent greenhouse and garden on campus, giving future Brooklyn Park students hands-on ways to explore nutrition, agriculture, and cultural traditions for years to come.

2. Maple Grove Hospital's ‘Miracle' Baby Headed Home After 11-Month NICU Stay (ccxmedia.org) — After spending a record 334 days in Maple Grove Hospital’s NICU, baby Adonis is finally home in Brooklyn Park with his parents and big brother. The family and care team describe his fight through extreme prematurity, infections, and setbacks, celebrating his emotional sendoff and the chance for him to keep growing surrounded by loved ones.

3. Which former North Hennepin County area high school stars will compete on Saturday, Sept. 19? (northhennepinnews.com) — Several former Brooklyn Park standouts, including alumni of Park Center and Osseo high schools, are suiting up for college football games across the country on Saturday, Sept. 19. If you’ve followed local high school sports, this roundup makes it easy to track when and where hometown players will be in action, from the Gophers to out-of-state programs.

4. Osseo OKs lawful gambling restrictions, no decision reached for applicant (hometownsource.com subscription) — Osseo officials are tightening rules on which nonprofits can run pull tabs, a move that could affect Champlin Park Takedown and Heavy Rotation Brewery as it relocates from Brooklyn Park to Osseo. Because the wrestling nonprofit now operates gambling at the brewery’s Brooklyn Park site, the council’s Sept. 28 decision may influence how much support flows back to youth programs serving the Brooklyn Park area.
