Bedrace For Bridging Happens Saturday At Buck Hill In Burnsville
The annual event features teams wearing costumes and racing down the hill on mattresses. All proceeds go to the nonprofit Bridging.

BURNSVILLE, MN —On Saturday, visitors to Buck Hill in Burnsville will show that you don't need a sled when you have a bed.
They will be taking part in the 24th Annual Slumberland Furniture Bedrace for Bridging, which will begin at 5 p.m. at the tubing hill, located at 15400 Buck Hill Rd.
The event will feature creatively dressed teams of four racing each other down the hill on custom-covered mattresses, which will be donated by Slumberland Furniture. There also will be music and chats by the bonfire, organizers said.

All proceeds from the event will go to Bridging, a local nonprofit that assists more than 4,000 families per year as they pursue housing stability. Since the event began in 1998, over $1 million has been raised for Bridging.
"The annual Bedrace for Bridging is not only a great time racing, dressing in costumes and enjoying fun around the bonfire, but it's also a terrific way for our community to learn more about our vital work and why we need their help to fundraise, support our programs and empower people to thrive in their new homes," said Diana Dalsin, community relations manager for Bridging.

Dalsin continued: "We need to furnish one hundred homes with HOPE every week! It takes all of us working together to bring awareness to our mission."
People interested in participating in the event still can sign up online, according to organizers.
Fundraising teams can register for free, though teams must raise a minimum of $400 per team in order to join the Bedrace. All racing team members must be 18 or older to participate.
Prizes will be awarded for the highest fundraising efforts, top costumes and fastest race times.
