Burnsville Man Not Wearing Seat Belt Dies In I-35W 1-Car Crash

It is not yet known if the collision with a tree involved alcohol, police said.

BLOOMINGTON, MN — A Burnsville man is dead after a single-car crash on Interstate 35W in Bloomington Saturday. Just after 12 p.m., a Mercury was heading southbound on I-35W in the center right lane when it drifted over lanes of traffic into the right ditch, striking a tree.

The collision happened near 94th Street West.

The driver, Clovin McVay Jr., 52, died in the crash. Passenger Allen Suggs Jr., 48, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin Healthcare.

McVay Jr. was not wearing a seat belt, police said. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to authorities.
