Burnsville Police Fatally Shoot Suicidal, Armed Man
A man said to have been suicidal and armed is dead after a Burnsville police officer shot him.

A man said to have been suicidal and armed is dead after a Burnsville police officer shot him.
At approximately 8:22 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, the Burnsville Police Department responded to a call about a suicidal white adult male at an apartment complex at the 1600 block of Cliff Road East.
At about 8:25 p.m., the first officers responded to the scene, according to a news release.

Officers were told that the man had threatened suicide, and had left the apartment complex with a gun.
Officers began searching the area and a state patrol helicopter was called in for the search. At approximately 9:27 p.m., heat sensors from the helicopter identified an individual in a tree line near the apartment complex.

Officers approached the individual and observed he was in possession of a firearm. A Burnsville police officer then fired shots, killing the man.
All officers on scene were unharmed. Officers were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) will be conducting the investigation of the incident.
