Burnsville Police Investigate Deadly Shooting

Police responded to the fatal shooting at about 1 a.m. in Burnsville Friday. There are currently no suspects in custody.

BURNSVILLE, MN — Authorities are investigating after a man died of a gunshot wound in Burnsville early Friday morning. On May 31 at about 1 a.m., Burnsville police and paramedics responded to multiple 911 calls of gunshots being heard in the area of 13100 Harriet Avenue South.

At the scene, officers located a deceased man with apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the area.

The investigation into this matter is active and ongoing. There are currently no suspects in custody, but officers are following several leads, police said in a news release.

At this time, police believe this was an isolated incident and not random, and that there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the general public. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please call the Burnsville Police Department Tip Line at (952) 641-1105.

The Burnsville Police Department does not release the names of victims in situations such as these until officially identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The scene was cleared by police at approximately 8 a.m., and there are no restrictions for residents in the area. Burnsville police were assisted by Eagan and Savage Police Departments, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
