Burnsville's Jamaican Restaurant Has Closed

We have sad news for fans of the original Pimento Jamaican Kitchen in Burnsville: the location has closed down. But there's good news, too.

We have some sad news to report for fans of the original Pimento Jamaican Kitchen in Burnsville: the location has closed down.

However, the fast-causal restaurant still has a location at 2524 Nicollet Ave in Minneapolis. And Tomme Beevas, Pimento's co-founder, is looking to relocate the Burnsville restaurant by the spring, reports the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Business Journal.

The restaurant is known for dishes such as the Kingston Style Jerk Chicken, marinated in jerk rub, then fire-grilled, as well as Coconut Rice and Beans, which features red beans cooked in coconut milk, with scallion, shredded coconut, and island spices.

The Caribbean restaurant says on its website that its roots go all the way back to a home in Jamaica:

Pimento’s story began many years ago in the kitchen of West Kingston matriarch, Sylvia “Baby Lue” Jones, where she taught her grandson, Tomme “Young General” Beevas, how to lovingly prepare amazing meals for their community. You’re invited to experience her warmth in the flavor of each plate, and to join us in celebrating her life and legacy with every bite.
