• Why Denny's Closed Five Minnesota Locations Suddenly (krforadio.com) — Burnsville residents just lost their local Denny's at 12950 Aldrich Ave S, one of five Minnesota locations abruptly closed after the parent company said it could no longer meet payroll or operating costs. Employees were given essentially one day's notice and advised to seek unemployment, while remaining Denny's locations continue operating elsewhere in the state.

• Pfister earns NSIC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week (msumavericks.com) — Burnsville readers can cheer on regional talent as Luis Pfister is recognized as the NSIC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following a standout 10th-place finish at the Augustana Twilight. The Minnesota State sophomore led all Division II runners and now heads to the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis on September 18, where he'll try to extend his strong start.
