Pedestrian Killed in Burnsville Identified
A pedestrian was killed in Burnsville Tuesday near McAndrews Road East and Echo Park Lane.
A pedestrian killed in Burnsville this week has been identified. Mai Thi Dang, 64, was struck by a motor vehicle while walking in the street. Dang died at the scene.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, just before 5 p.m., the Burnsville Police Department was dispatched to a welfare check near the 1400 block of McAndrews Road East in Burnsville. A caller reported that an adult female was walking in the street, and it appeared she needed assistance.
A Burnsville Police Officer arrived in the area soon after. Just after 5 p.m., the officer was flagged
down by a motorist and learned that a crash had just occurred in the area of McAndrews Road East
and Echo Park Lane.

The officer responded to the crash and discovered Dang, who had been struck by a westbound vehicle, according to a news release. The officer rendered first aid, and was assisted a short time later by Burnsville paramedics. The victim later died at the scene.
Burnsville police confirmed that the victim was the same individual that had been reported for a welfare check minutes earlier. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, authorities say. There are no marked crosswalks at the intersection where the crash occurred.
