Relay For Life of Burnsville is Celebrating its 15th Year
Celebrate those who are fighting, remember those who have passed, and fight back against all forms of cancer.
Relay for Life of Burnsville, celebrating its 15th year, can be a life-changing fundraising event that
brings the community together to celebrate those who are fighting, remember those who have
passed, and fight back against all forms of cancer.
This event is open to the community and is set for Friday, July 29 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight at the Ames Center, according to a news release. The Ames Center is located at 12600 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville, MN 55337.

Relay is a family-friendly environment for the entire community where members of each team take turns walking around the track. There will be concessions, activities, music and a silent auction to provide entertainment and build camaraderie.
During the event there are three important points:

During this lap all cancer survivors take the first lap around the track
celebrating their victory over cancer while they are cheered on by the other participants
who line the track. Those who gave time, love, and support to their friends, family,
neighbors, and coworkers facing cancer, will also be honored during this time.
Luminaria Ceremony
This ceremony takes place after dark so attendees can remember people we have lost to cancer, honor those who have fought cancer in the past, and support those whose fight continues. Candles are lit inside personalized bags and are placed around the track as glowing tributes to those who have been impacted by cancer.
Fight Back Ceremony
This ceremony inspires participants to take action. It symbolizes the emotional commitment everyone can make in the fight against cancer. The action taken represents what we are willing to do for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for our community to fight against cancer year-round and to commit to saving lives.
Teams and participants can register online prior to the event or on the day of the event at the
Ames Center.
The event will also feature a special survivor dinner prior to the event at 4:30 p.m. We
encourage survivors to register and the leadership committee will contact them to provide
more details.
This event has traditionally been held around a track in the community, most recently at
Burnsville High School; however, due to the ongoing construction it was moved inside to the
Ames Center this year.
The event will continue – rain or shine – indoors at the Ames Center. Free parking is available in the Ames Center parking ramp and the Heart of the City Park and Ride ramp located off of 126th Street.
