Weight Loss Workshops: Stop turning to food for emotional support

We spend too much time looking in the mirror, on the scale and allow what we see to determine our worth. “If I weighed less I could be (loveable, worthwhile, successful)” We go to gyms, hire personal trainers, buy books on the latest diet, join groups without assessing why we turn to food in the first place, that is, how we think and feel about ourselves.

Join Ashlee Secord, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, for her free Weight Loss Workshop at Thrive Therapy. Having lost 100 pounds over the last 8 years, she is personally familiar with the struggles of emotional over-eating, obesity and the struggles that come up when trying to lose weight. Her workshop connects her vocation and experience to provide a place where emotional eating can be understood without judgment. Men and women are welcome to attend.

The workshop runs about 1 hour long, depending on the group. Please bring pen and paper and note that child care is not provided.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

-Steps for changing how you feel about yourself
-Develop realistic alternatives to emotional eating
-Understanding your relationship with food and how it has served you
-Resources and support to move forward in a way that works for you
