• Chainsaw incident sends Rockford man to hospital (thenewsleaders.com) — Emergency crews from Cold Spring and Stearns County responded Monday after a Rockford man severely injured his leg with a chainsaw while cutting trees in a ditch southeast of town. First responders applied a tourniquet at the Wakefield Township site before Mayo Ambulance transported him for treatment, underscoring the risks of tree work and the importance of local emergency services.
• Lisa Demuth pushes on with gubernatorial campaign despite losing GOP endorsement (bringmethenews.com) — Cold Spring’s own House Speaker Lisa Demuth is pressing ahead with her Republican gubernatorial bid, even after losing the party’s endorsement to Kendall Qualls. Citing voting irregularities at the GOP convention and a green light from party leadership, she’ll stay in the race through the August primary for a chance to face Sen. Amy Klobuchar in November.
