Art exhibit deadline extended

Dakota County still accepting nature submissions from local artists

Artists who are looking for an audience are invited to submit their work to be considered for Dakota County’s fourth community art exhibit planned for display in County buildings beginning this October. The submission deadline has been extended to Aug. 29, 2014.

Original, two-dimensional art can be submitted in one or both of the following categories: Critters of the Minnesota Zoo and Natural Wonders of the Parks of Dakota County. Artists must be at least 8 years old and live in Dakota County. Artwork, which must feature subjects within Dakota County, is limited to 36 inches by 36 inches and should be prepared for hanging on a wall.

Submissions are limited to one per artist per theme and must meet the full criteria outlined by the Dakota County Public Art Citizen Advisory Committee at www.dakotacounty.us, search art exhibit. The committee will review submissions and make a recommendation to the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, which will select the artwork that will be exhibited.

For more information, artists can contact Jean Erickson at 651-438-4286 or jean.erickson@co.dakota.mn.us.
