Eagan Lions Club Provides Emergency Snack and Diabetes Support Kits to Local Elementary Schools

Eagan, MN — The Eagan Lions Club has stepped up to meet a critical need identified by a local parent by providing emergency snack kits and essential diabetes care supplies to area elementary schools.

Working in collaboration with District 196 nurse Angela Mitchell, the Eagan Lions Club assessed gaps in available resources for students who may experience low blood sugar or lack access to quick, nutritious snacks during the school day.

In response, Minnesota Lions Foundation Trustee, Lori Wendolek and Lions Club member Sara Schulte worked together to assemble and distribute seven comprehensive emergency kits. Each kit includes:

• 10 squeeze applesauce pouches
• 10 fruit snack packs
• 1 glucose monitor
• Test strips
• A lancing device
• Lancets
• Glucose gel packs
• A diabetes care kit provided by the Lions Diabetes Foundation

These kits are designed to support school staff in responding quickly and effectively to students experiencing hypoglycemia or in need of immediate nourishment.

“This effort reflects our commitment to serving the community and supporting the health and well-being of local students,” said Sara Schulte of the Eagan Lions Club. “By partnering with school health professionals, we were able to ensure these kits meet real, identified needs.”

The Eagan Lions Club continues to focus on service projects that make a meaningful difference in the community, particularly in areas related to health, wellness, and youth support.
