Eagan Shooting: Police Say Armed, Masked Man Assaulted Guard
Police say the deceased man who allegedly assaulted a security guard in Eagan was armed with a gun and wearing a mask.

Authorities continue to investigate an Eagan shooting that left one dead after a security guard told police he was assaulted by an armed man. The guard shot and killed the armed suspect.
It recently was determined the shooting took place in a parking lot and the armed suspect was wearing a mask at the time of the assault. Police say at this point it appears the security officer was acting in self-defense. The suspect’s motive is still unknown to authorities.
On Dec. 5 at 12:08 a.m., Eagan police officers responded to the 900 block of Aldrin Drive for a security guard stating he had just shot somebody who had attempted to rob him. Officers responded and found an adult male dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release.

During the confrontation, the security officer shot and killed the suspect, according to police. The security officer sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Eagan Police Department is investigating the details surrounding the shooting and will provided updates as more details become available.
