More Info Released On Eagan Crash That Killed 13-Year-Old Biker

EAGAN, MN — Police say no arrests or citations have been made after a 13-year-old biker was struck and killed by a car in Eagan last week. Investigators have not released the name of the 33-year-old driver because is not considered public information until a disposition is made in the case.

At the time of the crash, the driver of the vehicle did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or any other hazardous substances, according to authorities.

Eagan investigators have been gathering physical evidence related to the crash and will continue to follow up with the driver and witnesses to determine what factors may have led to the crash.

On Nov. 1 at about 7:20 a.m., Eagan officers responded to the 1000 block of Diffley Road on the report of a child on a bicycle being struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found a 13-year-old, later identified as Patric Vitek, lying in the road with multiple injuries.

Patric was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The driver of the car was headed east on Diffley Road, and was traveling in the center lane, when they struck the rear tire of Patric’s bicycle. Patric was biking to the nearby Dakota Hills Middle School, which he attended.

The posted speed limit at the scene is 45 MPH.

Patric played hockey for the Eagan Hockey Association on the PeeWee A team. He is survived by his mom, Cheryl, dad, Brian, and his younger brother, Jack.
