On the Pony Express with Eagan Funfest Ambassadors

Ambassador Lilly Briody Blogs about Volunteering Adventures at Holz Farm

Hello, and welcome back to my second blog of the year! I am your 2015-2016 Eagan Funfest Ambassador Lilly Briody giving you another update about what we’ve been doing. From September 19-20 we volunteered at Holz Farm. Now this has probably been one of my favorite events so far because we got to interact with people and the little kids. It was hilarious watching kids come and immediately they would be drawn to the ponies! Holz Farm rented ponies from the Pony Parties Express and the kids loved them. They had three different ponies each day and the kids got to get a carrot, put it in the bucket and feed it to the ponies. (In picture I am with left to right Coco, Turbo Timmy, and Bam-Bam). After they fed their carrot to the pony they rode the pony up and down a grassy area with one of the girls holding onto the pony. The kids’ faces lit up while they were up there riding. Besides the ponies Holz farm had many other different activities. They had the little tractors that kids pedaled and rode around on. They had a blast on those! You would see little kids come running over and jump on and start pedaling. Some kids needed help though because they couldn’t quite reach the pedals. Even if I got tired and dizzy from pushing them in circles, they still wanted to keep going! Even the Ambassadors rode on them when kids weren’t around, and let me tell you it is a lot harder than it looks! Your knees were bent all the way into your chest! Another thing I got to do was the Hay Bale rides. It was pretty fun when people were around and I met a lot of different people in one day. There were a bunch of “tour guide” people that I met. Also the driver Dan could do the best Daffy Duck impersonation. He always ended up pointing to my crown while doing the voice. All the little kids thought he was hilarious when he did it. I also got to go on the ride a few times at the end of my shift. My friend saw me so when we got back to the gate, guess who was there to get a ride? So we went on it again and it was really interesting to learn about some different things at Holz Farm. Also a little fun fact, the youngest person to go on the Hay ride was a five week old baby girl and she was adorable! This was just a brief part of my experience at Holz Farm and it was fantastic. I am so excited to go back in December and help out again! Well thanks for reading my blog and stay tuned because there’s more to come! Sincerely, Lilly Briody your 2015-2016 Eagan Funfest Ambassador
