As a retired Eagan police officer and longtime Eagan resident, I have observed the actions of the city council over many years. I appreciate the council’s challenges in governing Minnesota’s ninth largest city. Their work is not easy, but we all expect that they will make the right decisions to assure that Eagan remains one of the best places in which to live and work.
Councilmember Gary Hansen understands those expectations. He has worked diligently over the past six years with his fellow councilmembers to make the right choices on behalf of Eagan’s residents and businesses. The result is a thriving local economy, short commuting times, and low property taxes, as noted in Money magazine’s recent ranking of Eagan at #11 of “Best Places to Live”.
Councilmember Hansen represents Eagan on the Dakota Communications Center Board, working to assure prompt and responsive police and fire service. He is committed to maintaining effective and reliable public safety and security through properly staffed and equipped fire and police departments.

Gary Hansen is respected regionally for providing leadership to support reliable and cost-effective public transit services as Eagan’s representative on the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Board and as chair of the Suburban Transit Association Board. Through his work on the Transportation Advisory Board, he contributes to coordination of regional transportation and transit initiatives. He also is helping to advance the shared interests of metropolitan area cities as a member of the Metro Cities Board.
During Hansen's time on the council, Eagan has been recognized for local government innovation, prudent fiscal management, budget transparency, and citizen engagement. Councilmember Hansen deserves our support for his hard work and dedication on our behalf. I urge Eagan residents to join me in voting to re-elect Gary Hansen to the city council.
