Vikings Hire Eagles' John Defilippo As Offensive Coordinator

Head coach Mike Zimmer, Rick Spielman and the Minnesota Vikings have found their next offensive coordinator. Coming off a Super Bowl win, vaunted Eagles QB coach John DeFilippo will leave Philadelphia for Minnesota, the team announced Friday.

The Vikings began their search after Pat Shurmur was hired as the head coach of the New York Giants.

Before hiring DeFilippo, the Vikings interviewed their own QB coach Kevin Stefanski, former Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Saints assistant coach Dan Campbell, and Texans QB coach Sean Ryan.

"We are very excited to add John to our staff," Zimmer said in a statement. "We took our time with the search and made sure we left no stone unturned to get the right fit. He has a track record of success and has proven to be a great teacher. We feel John will have good chemistry with our team and we are all eager to get to work."

DeFilippo enjoys a reputation of getting the most out of whichever QB he's working with; a much-needed skill as the Vikings decided on a starting quarterback this offseason.

"The Vikings landed one of the top young innovative minds on the offensive side of the ball," ESPN reported. "As Minnesota looks to fulfill its next biggest offseason need, having one of the most respected quarterbacks coaches in the NFL in their corner isn’t a bad place to start."
