Organics to be collected at Dakota County Fair
Volunteers needed for new initiative that aims to increase recycling
Dakota County Environmental Resources and the Dakota County Fair are taking steps to recycle more waste and are in need of volunteers to help champion their new initiative.
Starting this year, for the first time at the Dakota County Fair, organic materials like food scraps and related paper products will be collected in food vendor areas and later taken to a local facility for composting.
Volunteers are needed at waste stations throughout the fairgrounds to help instruct the public on what to recycle and highlight why recycling is important. Volunteers get free admission to the fair on the day of their shift.

The 2014 Dakota County Fair is held Aug. 4–10 at the fairgrounds, 4008 220th St. W., Farmington. For more information about volunteering, contact Steve Pincuspy at 952-891-7017 or steve.pincuspy@co.dakota.mn.us.
