The first time Briggs Fussy and Brittney Husbyn walked down a long church aisle in 1995, he cut a stoic figure as he carried rings fastened to a pillow and she flung flower petals with enthusiastic abandon.

Relatives of the bride and groom, they posed for the cute pictures and then went about the business of growing up in their respective families, KMSP-TV reports. Then one day about five years ago, Husbyn turned around to a boy seated behind her in class and said:
“I think I have a picture of you on my wall at home.”

They went on a date, then another. Last weekend, they walked down the aisle together as husband and wife.
“It was funny, the first time I ever went over to his house, his mom whipped a picture off her wall and said ‘I’ve had a picture of you up in my house forever,’ ” Husbyn said. “It’s fun to have something special like that to look back on.”

According to comments on the TV station’s Facebook page, flower girls and ring bearers grow up to marry more often than people think. For example, Kelly Heruth Braun said and her husband, who she married in 1997, met for the first time in 1979 as young wedding party members.
The story also resulted an outpouring of comments about the early beginnings of relationships among some of the thousands of people who have liked and shared the story from the TV station’s Facebook page.
“My brother and sister in law have a similar story,” wrote Carol Schultz said her brother and sister-in-law were neighbors and they played “wedding” as 5-year-olds.
“When they got married they had the picture of the two of them posing as husband and wife enlarged and displayed at the real wedding,” Schultz wrote. “Best marriage you could ever hope to see and they are still on their honeymoon 40 years later!”
Tia Stringer said she and her husband have walked down several aisles – as homecoming crown bearers in 1977, down the graduation aisle in 1989 and down the wedding aisle in 1996.
Fussy said walking down the aisle with Husbyn was something he couldn’t have predicted would happen.
“It’s funny how God’s plan came into place,” the groom said. “I didn’t even know her before she turned around in class and told me that.”
