From whimsical scarecrows to an extraordinary pumpkin display, fall is bursting with creativity, color and seasonal charm. Starting Sept 18, stroll through delightful displays of scarecrows crafted by Arboretum staff, artists and visitors alike around the theme "Connecting People, Plants and the Planet."  Be sure to visit the charming Pumpkin House and see the Round Haybale Contest!  Ticketing information is on the website through Nov 2, 2026.

Arboretum AppleHouse

Just 1.5 miles west of the main Arboretum entrance on Highway 5, the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum AppleHouse is an iconic seasonal destination, featuring&nbsp;<a href="https://arb.umn.edu/AppleHouse/apples" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Minnesota-grown apples</a>, including varieties grown at the Arboretum’s nearby Horticultural Research Center.&nbsp;Many of the&nbsp;<a href="https://mnhardy.umn.edu/apples/varieties" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">University of Minnesota’s introduced apple varieties</a>&nbsp;are for sale, along with gourmet packaged foods, frozen pies, pastries, fudge, gifts and — in the fall — pumpkins, squash and gourds, also grown at the Arboretum. While supplies last, the AppleHouse also offers delicious Goldy’s Smokehouse meats, ice cream and Bee Lab honey from the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Science (CFANS). Visit us 9 am to 6 pm daily.

Enjoy live music throughout the summer!&nbsp;This year, we welcome new and returning artists to our series, which occurs June through September.&nbsp;Join us every Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Music genres will include blues, folk, brass quintets, and orchestra. There's something for everyone. Tonight we welcome the Toreadors Four Tuba Quartet! Rootstock Cafe will be open with food, beer and wine available as well as the Rootstock Ice Cream Cart (weather permitting).&nbsp;The series is included with your general daily admission to the Arboretum, please reserve your admission on the website.

This project is an intergenerational collaboration between Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) and her mother, Peggy Thompson. Their work brings together weaving, painting and shared observation of land. Using the grounds of the Arboretum as their common point of reference, they explore how two distinct visual languages – Ojibwe floral design and painterly depictions of ground – interpret the same environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;Maggie created woven textile works using ribbon and beads to create Ojibwe florals, inspired by flowers growing in and around the Arboretum, while her mother painted a series focused on the ground, dirt and earth found at the Arboretum. Rather than depicting flowers directly, her work centers the soil that sustains them, emphasizing texture and a mother’s role as nurturer. Her paintings function as both physical and conceptual foundations for Maggie’s woven and beaded pieces. Visit the website for ticketing details.

i9 Sports South Metro Minneapolis is a locally owned youth sports organization serving families throughout Bloomington, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Savage, Prior Lake, Shakopee, Lakeville, Jordan, St. Paul, New Prague, and surrounding cities. The organization provides recreational league play for boys and girls ages 3–14, focusing on building confidence, character, and teamwork within the local community. They offer a variety of youth programs including soccer, flag football, basketball, baseball, and tennis. Designed to accommodate busy schedules, the organization features a convenient one-day-a-week format where practices and games occur on the same day. Their seasonal programs run for 5–7 weeks throughout the year, ensuring consistent opportunities for skill development across multiple sports. Families can expect a safe and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to participate, as the organization maintains a no-tryouts policy. To ensure a positive experience for all participants, all coaches are required to complete background checks, providing parents with peace of mind while their children learn and grow.
