Monica Joy of Edina Wins First Poster Contest for 2013 Edina Film Festival
Edina Film Festival Poster Competition Deadline Aug. 5th ~ Calling all artists!
Wanted to update this post to acknowledge the winner of the 2013 First Annual Poster Contest for the Edina Film Festival.
The winning entry is the artwork of Monica Joy of Edina. Entitled “Fly with Films”, Monica won over 10 other entries and will receive $250. As mentioned in my original blog, the judge was Nancy Carlson.
The Edina Film Festival committee wants the word out about the poster contest for this year’s festival so here’s the word: DEADLINE! It’s Aug. 5th according to Kitty O’Dea, a festival committee member and member of the new Edina Art and Culture Commission.

While the Third Annual Edina Film Festival doesn’t take place until Nov. 7th - 9th this year at Landmark's Edina Cinema in downtown Edina, the poster contest obviously needs to happen first to publicize the event. So artists, start creating!
It’s a great opportunity for Minnesota artists to expand their resumé to include “Winner of Edina Film Festival Poster Contest 2013”. Not only that, the award comes with a $250 prize with the winning poster being featured in all festival publicity, promotional materials and the program guide.

Renowned book author and illustrator, Nancy Carlson, a former Edina resident and Edina High School Hall of Fame member now living in Minneapolis, will judge the contest. Carlson has written and illustrated more than 60 children’s books since 1979 and won numerous awards.
The Film Festival Poster Contest is open to Minnesota residents 16 years and older. All entries must project a cinema theme and include festival dates and location. Artists may enter only one poster and it must be accompanied by a registration form and $10 fee.
Submissions are due at the Edina Art Center, 4701 W. 64th St., Edina 55435, by 7 p. m. Aug. 5th so you’ve got less than a month for your creative juices to flow. For entry forms, guidelines and contest details, please go to www.edinafilmfestival.com
The winning entry will be announced Aug. 19th.
The Edina Film Festival benefits the Edina Art Center and is part of the Edina Arts and Culture Commission. Coordinating the festival is John Swon.
