Katniss Loves Relaxing in the Bathtub

A domestic longhair with a tortoise shell coat and piercing green eyes, Katniss is a beautiful feline and a bit of a mystery. In fact, almost nothing is known about this cat’s past.

She came to Edina-based rescue organization Secondhand Hounds from the Lake Traverse Reservation, but whether she was a stray or an abandoned pet or has some other history altogether is unknown. What is known is that Catniss absolutely loves people.

Katniss’ foster parent Katie Bultje said Katniss has been her shadow at home.

“She follows me from the kitchen to the bathroom, to the bedroom then to the living room,” Bultje said. 

People seem to be Katniss’ favorite companions, though she hasn’t had experience with children yet. She’s not the biggest fan of dogs and she’s learning to be with Bultje’s other foster cats. Her favorite hangout, strangely enough, is the bathtub.

Secondhand Hounds was founded in August of 2009. Since then, the volunteer-run organization has placed nearly 1,700 pets in forever homes.
