Collette: A Cat Among Hounds

This calico cat is available for adoption through Secondhand Hounds.

Though Secondhand Hounds primarily places dogs in adoptive homes, the organization also helps felines find forever families.

If a playful purring pal is what you’re looking for, Collette may be the perfect pet for you.

First picked up as a stray and taken to Maple Grove’s PUPS impound facility, Collette then found herself in the care of Secondhand Hounds through Katie Cottingham, her current foster parent. Things have been looking up ever since.

“We really love her and she makes us laugh all the time,” Cottingham said.

Cottingham also said Collette gets along great with people, dogs and cats—especially Fern, another foster cat in the home and perhaps Collette’s favorite playmate.

Playtime is something that’s important to Collette and she’ll do best in a family where that is valued and available.

“She needs a family that will play with her,” Cottingham said. “She is a high energy cat who wants to play first, snuggle later.”

If you are interested in adopting Collette, fill out an adoption application on the Secondhand Hounds website. An Edina-based, volunteer-run rescue organization, Secondhand Hounds has placed 1,550 pets in loving homes since it was founded in August of 2009.
