2012 Ralph Burnet Scholarships Given to Local Students

Edina-based Coldwell Banker Burnet has presented three local high school seniors a Ralph Burnet Scholarship. This annual scholarship program is offered locally to graduating high school seniors who are the son or daughter of a Coldwell Banker Burnet Home Services sales associate or full-time employee.  The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and scores on college entrance exams. 

 The 2012 Ralph Burnet Scholarship recipients are:

Laura Post of Eden Prairie. She is the daughter of Nancy Post, an examiner with Burnet Title. Laura graduated from Eden Prairie High School where she achieved a 4.0 grade point average and was the captain of the Alpine Ski Racing Team and junior varsity soccer captain.  She was also a member of the Key Club, Science Club and an a volunteer at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.  She plans to attend St. Olaf College.

Allison Morse of Cottage Grove. She is the daughter of Pam Ott-Morse and the granddaughter of Floyd and Laurie Ott sales associates with the Coldwell Banker Burnet Woodbury office. Allison graduated from Park High School where she was awarded the Athena Award and was an academic letter winner. She is also an all-star hockey player and team captain.  In addition, she played varsity lacrosse.  Allison also assisted at youth camps, was a Link Crew member and a mentor. She plans to attend Providence College in RI.

Monica Ohnsorg of Chanhassen.  She is the daughter of Greg Ohnsorg, sales associate with the Carver County office. Monica graduated from Chanhassen High School where she was a National Honor Society member earned a varsity letter with the  Chanhassen Speech Team and the team captain.  Monica was also involved the school’s music and drama programs where she held many lead roles. She also participated in choir and earned the Gold Key Award for art. When not at school, she volunteered with many international mission trips.  She also continues to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children. She plans to attend Hope College.

Tressa Koukal of Prescott, WI.  She is the daughter of Julie Koukal with Burnet Title. Tressa graduated from Prescott High School with a 3.96 grade point average.  She participated in track and has been a 4-H member for twelve years.  With 4-H, she has held the positions of president, vice president, treasurer and has won the Community Service Award twice, the Outstanding Member Award and Leadership Award.  She has run a food bank program, volunteered for community projects and has worked with children.  She plans to attend Iowa State University. 

“We are pleased to honor these students and our future leaders for their hard work in academics, athletics and for their contributions to their schools and communities,” said Robin Peterson, president of Coldwell Banker Burnet.  

The Ralph Burnet Scholarship was established by the company as a tribute to Ralph Burnet for his contributions to Coldwell Banker Burnet and the real estate profession. Through this scholarship program, Coldwell Banker Burnet Home Services encourages children of sales associates and full-time employees of Coldwell Banker Burnet Home Services in the pursuit of excellence through higher education.  The program awards one-time scholarships to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
