Andrew Shue Visits Edina's Creative Kidstuff
Former Melrose star has found a new 'Place' online.

Andrew Shue has moved to a much bigger space than the apartment complex he once inhabited as Billy in the 1990’s hit Melrose Place. In fact, CafeMom.com—the online community he co-founded with friend Michael Sanchez in 1999—has more than 8 million unique visitors per month.
Sporting the same easy smile and friendly brown eyes that made him so likeable on TV, Shue was at Creative Kidstuff in the Galleria this week to meet some local moms and promote the upcoming launch of the Twin Cities www.mom.com, a free daily deal site he helped design.
Andrew, who has three sons of his own, seemed right at home surrounded by Creative Kidstuff’s colorful toys and perfectly comfortable chatting with Minnesota moms. In person, he was affable and smart.

Edina mom Kris Mollison admits to having been a Melrose Place fan, and got a kick out of having her picture taken with Shue.
The mission of Mom.com is to support local economies by connecting moms to nearby merchants with great daily deals. Twin Cities moms Laura Hotvet and Natalie Hagemo will be heading up the marketing team and are looking forward to Oct. 24, when the local site goes live.

Mom.com is also aligning itself with a number of charities, and Laura says they've been at several community events in the past few weeks including Apple Day in Excelsior, James J. Hill Day in Wayzata and Girls Night Out in both Edina and Excelsior. They have also donated to Hope Chest for Breast Cancer, the ICA foodshelf and many local schools.
According to Hotvet, the site will ultimately become an online community that "helps make moms' lives easier, brings people together and helps them share information."
