The Fifth Annual Master Gardeners Learning Garden Tour takes place on July 14. Don't miss this most unique garden tour.

Don’t miss it! Do you garden? Are you planning a garden? Want to learn new techniques and learn what other gardeners have done? Then why not learn from the master gardeners in Hennepin County? 

The Hennepin County Master Gardeners are hosting their fifth annual Learning Garden Tour on Saturday, July 14. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Visit our website to learn more and to order your tickets by credit card: www.hennepinmastergardeners.org or call 612.596.2130.

What will you see? What will you learn? This educational tour includes 11 gardens
designed and maintained by master gardeners who have been certified through the University of Minnesota Extension service. The gardens are located in Southwest Minneapolis, Edina, St. Louis Park, and Golden Valley. This tour will provide you with inspiration and information on a wide range of gardening styles and techniques. The tour includes landscaping with native plants and no-mow lawns, how to create outdoor rooms, vegetable growing strategies, lakeshore restoration, and much more.

Got questions? Bring ‘em! Each garden will have at least two master gardeners on site to answer questions and provide educational demonstrations. Two of the gardens include:

Garden A theme: Visual and Edible Feast. A rainbow of flowering annuals signals the entrance to this imaginative and productivegarden. Colorful perennials throughout the yard provide a changing seasonal display of vibrant blooms.

The completely organic vegetable garden supplies delicious produce for fresh eating, canning and dehydrating. Hops growing along the clothesline are used for home brewed beer! Hmmm? Beer. Vegetables? Flowers? What a concept!

Educational demonstrations: Preserving the Harvest, Home Brewing

Garden B theme: It all Starts with a Tiny Seed.
Prepare to be dazzled. This unassuming front yard belies a riot of color
blooming in the backyard. See an astonishing assortment of flowers, including
gorgeous dahlias of many colors, shapes, and sizes, all grown from seed!

Starting plants from seed allows this old-school gardener to find unusual and
rare varieties not seen in everyday gardens. Check out the robust vegetables
occupying the side terraced beds, all grown from seed, of course!

Educational demonstrations: Amending and Acidifying soil, Seed Starting

Tour date: Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Rain or shine.
