Enjoy, But Don't Destroy!

This year, consider taking a healthier look at "The Holidays."

Even though Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's make up a total of three days, most people just call November, December and the beginning of January "The Holidays."

Since it is "The Holidays," you can be irresponsible and careless. You can eat mass quantities, put all sorts of horrible "Holiday" items into your body, stop exercising, ignore your health, spend too much, and put important things off because, after all, it is "The Holidays."

In total you end up with a 6-10 week reign of terror on your body! When you add these two months with all of the other times of the year you tend to ignore your health like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, weekends, secretaries day, etc. you are being irresponsible for your health for, conservatively, three months of every year (that's 25 percent!). By the time you are 40 years old you will have spent 10 years doing serious, possibly irreparable damage to your body, finances and possibly your life. This is one reason why we are supposed to live to 100 and only make it to 75.

"The Holidays" are supposed to be a time dedicated to celebrating and appreciating God's blessings, however, they have become a time dedicated to overindulgence and destroying health. Clearly, it is time to look at "The Holidays" from a new perspective. Take the 6-10 days that make up the actual holidays and enjoy the traditions (the cookies if you must), the food, the drinks, company and the festivities that go along with them (in moderation of course). Then focus on what you can do to better yourself during the other 30 days this holiday season. Get a jump start on that weight loss program or get that gym membership and personal trainer a month early.

This holiday season can be the season that you take back your health and truly have something to be thankful for. Have a great season and remember to be thankful for all the blessings in your life.
