Plant Your Veggies This Week
What plants did you buy this weekend? Get them in this week, by Wednesday. With temperatures forecasted to be around 80 degrees, this could be a great week to get planting.

Okay, so how many of you went to the plant sales this weekend? A great weekend to enjoy the weather and to buy your favorite plants.
The longer-term forecast is looking pretty good. Day-time temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s; night-time temperatures will be around 50 degrees. This will be a great week to get all of your vegetables into your garden and/or containers.
Could we have some more chilly weather? Hello Memorial Day. But a killing frost? Not so much. At least that is what I am planning on.

If you are a container gardener, make sure you water each day given the temperatures forecasted for this week. Water in the morning. Check the plants in late afternoon. Do they look a little tired? Water again.
When you container garden, keep the soil at least one inch below the top of the container. Fill the container with water, from the top of the soil to just below the surface of the container. Let it soak in. If the water soaks in quickly, water again.

If you are like me and took advantage of our "warm early spring" and like to take risks with Mommie Nature, you have already picked some Radishes, Spinach, Onions (from sets), Arugula, Lettuce and Kale leaves for your salad.
For those of you who go beyond our borders, you will be able to harvest some leaves from Spigariello (Italian) and Kailan (Chinese).
Watch the weather before you plant your Chinese Cabbage. Cold weather will make the plants bolt—they flower early and the taste becomes a bit bitter.
