Byun Takes Office as Edina Rotary President
Woodrow "Wooj" Byun was sworn in alongside other officers at the group's year-end meeting.

Woodrow "Wooj" Byun has started his term as president of the Rotary Club of Edina, which began its fiscal year on July 1.
Byun was one of several officers sworn in as the Rotary Club held its year-end meeting on June 30, 2011. Byun is president of Woodrow Byun Law Office in Edina and a graduate of the University of Minnesota's Law School.
A native of Korea, Byun first came to the U.S. on a Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship. Byun is married to Jennifer Park, and has two daughters, Nina and Maria.

His community service includes serving as Chair of the Asian Pacific Cultural Center in Minnesota (2002-2003), President of the Korean Association of Minnesota (2000-2001), an advisor to South Korean President on peaceful unification of Korea, advisory board Chair to Mr. Nils Hasselmo, former President of the University of Minnesota, and District 5950 Ambassadorial Scholarship/Group Study Exchange Alumni Committee Chair (1998-1999).
The theme for the organization's 2011-12 fiscal year—which runs from July 1 through June 30—is "Reach Within to Embrace Humanity." Rotary officers for the next year include: Byun, President-Elect Scott MacDonald, Treasurer Steve Slyce, Secretary Jeff Ohe and Past-President Jon Barnett. The group's Board of Directors is made up of San Asato, Katie Bassett, Heather Hansen, Jody Kern, Leslie Kreofsky, Marty Kupper, Mike Opitz, Grant Robinson and Jill Weber.

The Rotary Club of Edina is one of nearly 34,000 groups in more than 200 countries and geographical areas across the world. Rotary aims to encourage and foster the idea of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; high ethical standards in business; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; the application of the ideal of service in personal, business and community life; and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace.
