Collaborative Divorce: Lawyers Committed to Settlement

Lawyers committed to settling are crucial to the Collaborative Divorce process.

The second part of a six part series on Collaborative Divorce highlights the importance of having the right lawyers. Having lawyers that are fully committed to settling creates better outcomes in the Collaborative Divorce process.

Collaborative Divorce is centered around settling out of court. That's why selecting a lawyer that is committed to settlement is so important. There is a risk to this process, in that you would have to find a new attorney if you cannot settle out of court.

However, the benefit of removing the threat of court can far outweigh the risks. Instead of threatening court or making accusations, both parties search for creative and empathetic solutions in order to reach shared goals. Whether that means who gets to keep what possessions, what happens with any children, etc.

All of it starts with each side making sure they have an attorney that is committed to settling out of court.
