Countryside Principal Reflects on Launch of Farmington School
Nine years before she came to Edina, Karen Bergman helped start Meadowview Elementary School.

Karen Bergman’s name has become entwined with Countryside Elementary School since she became principal there in July 2011. But 10 years ago, she helped Farmington’s Meadowview Elementary School launch as that school’s first principal.
With Meadowview in the midst of its anniversary celebration, Bergman took some time to talk to The Farmington Independent about the school’s start. She described the school’s construction delays and mishaps that forced teachers to start the school year in different buildings.
She told the newspaper:
“I think that even though we weren’t in that building together, you really felt that camaraderie, because we had survived this interesting experience together, and now we were able to make it work like it would normally be done.”
