Edina Boys Soccer May Have to Share Title
Wayzata stuns Hornets in overtime, forges tie atop Lake Conference standings with one game remaining.
The Edina boys soccer team may still be able to claim a Lake Conference championship this autumn, but it might have to share the crown.
Wayzata stunned the fourth-ranked Hornets, winning 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Alexi Moua at Kuhlman Field on Tuesday night.
The shocking turn of events dropped Edina into a tie with the Trojans atop the Lake standings as each team now holds a 5-2 circuit record with one road win over the other with a single game remaining in the regular season.

After more than an hour without a goal, Wayzata took the initial 1-0 lead in the 68th minute on a score from John Kornahrens.
Edina, which had been scorching the Wayzata goal box for the majority of the contest, finally pulled even on a strike from John Lagorio in the 75th minute to knot the count at 1-1 and send the game into the extra session, where Moua ended matters in favor of the visitors.

The Hornets, 12-2-1 overall, will now look to clinch at least a share of the Lake championship at Minnetonka on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Edina will need to defeat the Skippers, then wait for the results of Wayzata's conference finale versus Hopkins at home. That game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
In the first round of Lake play, the Hornets defeated Minnetonka, 2-1, at home on Sept. 20, the same day that the Trojans topped the Royals by a 5-1 count on the road.
