Edina Discus Thrower Places 2nd at State

Edina discus thrower Ian Collins finished second, helping the Hornets to a 12th place finish in the Class AA state track and Field championships Friday and Saturday at Hamline University.

Collins threw the discus 158 feet and six inches. The senior’s throw was one foot and nine inches behind the winner.

Collins also finished fifth in the shot put, in which he threw 54 feet 6 ½ inches.

Senior Will Burke finished fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:13.42 and sixth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:03.47.

For the girls, senior Kelly Fogelson finished 11th in discus and 17th in shot put.
