Edina Legion Baseballers Win State Title
The Hornets defeated Eden Prairie 9-5 this afternoon to secure the state title.
The Edina Legion Post 471 baseball team came through the State Baseball Tournament unscathed, taking down the best teams in Minnesota to secure the state title on Monday, Aug. 6.
The Hornets took down Eden Prairie 9-5 Monday afternoon to capture the championship.
Pitcher Matt Hopfner led the team from the mound, with timely hitting leading to three runs in both the third and seventh innings of the game. The team managed to hold Eden Prairie hitters to three quick outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to close out the win, according to the Edina Baseball Association.

Edina was undefeated during the four-day tournament, held in Chaska.
The team also secured a spot in the Regional Tournament beginning Thursday, Aug. 9, in Dickinson, North Dakota.
