(PHOTOS) Model Yacht Club Sails Centennial Lakes

The EMYC will be celebrating its 21st annual Parade of Boats on Sunday, June 10.

The Edina Model Yacht Club (EMYC), formed in 1991, is a nonprofit, radio controlled model boat club. EMYC sails their wind, electric and steam powered boats at in the evenings.

Currently there are about 90 members who gather every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from mid-afternoon and throughout the remainder of the evening, weather and wind conditions permitting. Oftentimes club members are more than willing to let others try to operate their model boats.

The cost of the boats and their radio equipment can range from under $100 up to thousands of dollars. The boats range from that of fast electric model boats, sail model boats, and scale model boats.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, the EMYC will be hosting its 21st Annual "" at Centennial Lakes and the public is welcome to attend. Club members will be available to display, run and answer any questions about model boats with hopes of having approximately 150 to 200 boats shown.
