Edina's Nanne Selected to Represent U.S. in International Hockey Tourney
Lou Nanne will play in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament on Aug. 8-13 in Europe
Edina boys hockey standout Lou Nanne was one of 22 players selected to play on the U.S. Under-18 Select Team that will compete at the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament on Aug. 8-13 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia.
Nanne, a 5-foot-10, 178-pound forward, was the lone player selected that played for a Minnesota State High School League team during the 2010-11 season. The only other player from a Minnesota school on the roster was Teddy Doherty of Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault.
The team will play its first three games in Piestany. The U.S. will play Finland at 7 a.m. CT on Aug. 8, Russia at 7 a.m. on Aug. 9 and Slovakia at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 10. The semifinals take place on Aug. 12 and the championship and third place games are on Aug. 13.

Nanne helped Edina take fourth place at the Class AA state tournament as a sophomore last season. He was fifth on the Hornets in points during the regular season, and he ended the year with 13 goals and 16 assists in 27 games.
As a freshman, Nanne played in 26 games and scored four goals and one assist during Edina’s run to the state championship.
