"EdinaScapes" exhibit grand opening at Edina History Museum

What would Edina be without the lighted marquee of the theater at 50th and France or the splashing of Minnehaha Creek under the Browndale bridge?

See landscapes and landmarks of Edina through the eyes of talented local artists with a new show at the Edina History Museum, in partnership with the Edina Art Center. "EdinaScapes" opens Sunday, Aug. 11, with a public party from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The show, in celebration of the city's Quasquicentennial,  includes painting, photography and three-dimensional art as well as a video highlight film of historic footage of Edina scenes, including the lunch counter at Clancy's Drug.

Visitors can purchase the art on display or bid on silent auction art and antique items from the Edina Art Center and the Edina Historical Society. "Then and Now" photos showing historic photos matched with images of the current site will also be on display.  Just arrived Tshirts featuring a vintage styled "Greetings from Edina" postcard image will be available for purchase.

Friends and family can also reminisce together, enjoy light refreshments and stroll the 28 gardens in surrounding Arneson Acres Park, now at peak bloom.
