Catholic, Buddhist to teach in Edina.
Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Edina will hold "Buddhist Spirit, Christian Spirit," a workshop led by Catholic priest and Buddhist roshi the Rev. Robert E. Kennedy.
One of only three Jesuits in the world who answers to the titles father and roshi, or Zen teacher, Kennedy will teach a two-day session 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 1, on contemplative prayer. A one-hour meditation experience is optional both days. An overview and public forum will also be offered 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
There is a suggested donation of $20. The church, 5730 Grove St., encourages advance registration so seating can be planned.
