Edina Reads: Healing the Heart of Democracy

The Edina Reads Committee is collaborating with the Edina
League of Women Voters on a discussion of the Parker Palmer book, Healing
the Heart of Democracy: The Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human
Spirit
.  The discussion will be led by Lonni Skrentner, a retired and renowned
Edina High School teacher, and a member of the League of Women Voters.

The program is designed so that all can participate, even
if they have not had time to read the book.  Our desire is to further a
discussion about working towards a healthier heart for the body politic in our
local community, our nation, and the world. The Friends of the Edina Library
have purchased copies of the book that the library is loaning to the public on
an honor system.

Parker Palmer was a speaker at the Westminster Town Hall
Forum on April 19, 2012.  Palmer’s speech there sparked the interest for
this program on September 11, Patriot Day, leading up to the national election
in November.
