In conjunction with Edina Day of Service, volunteers from FREE GEEK TWIN CITIES will be collecting used laptops, computer towers and flat panel monitors at Jerry’s Foods for recycling (5125 Vernon Avenue, Edina, MN).
FREE GEEK’s goal is to minimize the amount of electronic waste going into landfills while providing a training program and access to low cost computers. Parts that can be reused are put into new computers by volunteers who can earn a computer after going through the FREE GEEK program. Parts that can’t be reused are recycled in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Data security is important to FREE GEEK, so hard drives will be either erased and overwritten or physically damaged.
Look for the RED MINI VAN with the FREE GEEK banner parked on the west side of Jerry’s lot on Saturday October 15th and recycle your used computers and flat panel monitors. Its a win-win. Get rid of your "junk" and your "junk" gets put to good use instead of going into a landfill. PCs and Macs accepted. NO CRT’s please. Cash contributions are also welcome (and appreciated).
