Minneapolis and Suburban Host Home Programs seeking Volunteer Host Homes

Each night in Minnesota there are 2,500 youth without a safe, stable place to sleep.  In Minneapolis alone there are nearly 500 youth experiencing homelessness every day.  Many of these youth are trying to stay connected with their school and their support network.  We know that youth who stay safe and connected are more likely to complete high school and be successful as young adults.

The Minneapolis and Suburban Host Home Program uses a network of volunteer host homes to provide housing for these youth in their home communities so they are able to stay in school and focus on their future.  Our volunteer host homes provide a private bedroom and food for the youth in their home for 6-12 months.  Each youth works with a Case Manager who meets with them weekly and is able to provide expertise, resources, and community referrals for the youth and the host home.  The hosts work with a Program Manager who provides training and 24/7 emergency support as well as regular check-ins, a monthly home visit, and a monthly host support group.  Being a host home is an experience that can be challenging, but that many host homes say is the most rewarding thing they’ve done.  Hosts must have a spare bedroom, be over the age of 25 and live in Minneapolis or Suburban Hennepin County.  For more information visit our website at www.minneapolishosthome.org or like us on Facebook!
