The Cake Eater has been exploring the internet lately for edible bargains. In doing so, I learned a little something about Foursquare, which has 10 million registered users as of June 2011. It's a smart phone social media application that allows users to check-in at businesses and let their friends know where they are.
Check-ins garner you badges, reveal other users' tips about a location and may even make you the "mayor" of a place, or the person with the most check-ins at that location. Being the mayor often comes with spoils, in the form of free or discounted goods and services. Also, establishments sometimes reward Foursquare users with other kinds of deals as well.
Here are some tasty Foursquare specials that are offered in our fair city. Plug in, download and get a bit cyber-thrifty—none of these offers are gigantic, but they may help you afford a few extra delicious bites.
